I started punting in the late 1990s but it was very different then. I had a very damaging break up and was in a bad place mentally when I went on a business trip to HK and spent a night with a lovely WG, but that’s another story! When I came back to UK I did not want another relationship but didn’t want to be celibate either so I checked out WGs here.
The Internet had not really got going but sites like acemassage.net just started (still here today) but Internet was dial-up and slow. I did not have a mobile phone so it was ads in the local paper, a pocket full of change and off to find a payphone that worked.
As today, the calls were usually answered by a ‘maid’ but then they usually gave the actual address rather than just the postcode as they usually do now. I guess they knew that finding a payphone near them would be difficult. As the adverts were usually cryptic sometimes I needed to make a few calls to find the ‘right’ girl. Most girls were British then, with a few claiming to be Swedish or French. Service has not changed much, but BJs were much less common.
I did regular trips to London and Soho offered lots of walk-ups (a few are still there), but usually these were just ‘quickies’ as the girls were busy. There were also cards in phone boxes and usually these were a better bet. Gradually, the Internet became the main source of information and local papers went on a moral crusade to remove WG ads – I wonder how much circulation that cost them! Prices have not gone up much £50 for 30 minutes was the norm back then.
Anyone else got happy memories?
